Steve grew up in the small town of American Fork, Utah, where he participated in high school sports, writing classes, and mountain climbing. He continued his education at the University of Utah and played football for the Utes. After graduation, he stayed as an assistant football coach at the University of Utah.

     Steve also enjoyed a business career where he served as president and CEO of several large real estate companies before retiring in 2023.

 

     Steve's love of writing stems from his high school days as editor of the poetry magazine. His published works include Matilda McGruder, The Big Melt, The Mountain King, and Growing Up Katie.  He is currently working on his fifth novel, The White Horse Prophesy.

     Steve is an avid hiker and outdoorsman. 

Steve and his wife split their time between their Utah ranch and cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia.
